The Engsi pattern has its roots in woven textiles with the specific usage as door coverings for the tents erected by nomadic herders. Often featuring a directional quality with an asymmetry due to flat woven kilim sections with slits for poles, these found their way in to homes and collections as a distinct look. These rugs have been made specifically in the Engsi style as newly produced rugs.
